    For skiing and snowshoeing, explore designated trails within the parks. Seek weather updates and information at the visitor center for a delightful snow experience. Let’s explore these unique snow play areas:

    Wolverton Snowplay Area:

    Discover Wolverton at 7,250 feet (2,160 meters), just about two miles (3.2 km) from of the General Sherman Tree. Confirm road conditions post-snowfall, as it may take time for plows to ensure safety. For equipment rental or purchases, visit the Wuksachi Lodge during operational hours.

    Grant Grove Village:

    Find snow fun near Grant Grove Village, around 6,600 feet (2,000 meters). Columbine Snowplay Area, on the road to General Grant Tree Trail, and Big Stump Snowplay Area, near Big Stump Entrance Station along Highway 180, promise enjoyable experiences. Check the weather before your visit, ensuring appropriate attire. Grant Grove Market usually offers rentals and snow-play gear.

    Prepare for a winter wonderland, follow safety guidelines, and relish the magic of snow play in these breathtaking national parks.

    How to get there 

    Check nps.gov website to make sure it is safe to travel to Sequoia or Kings Canyon National Park.

    If you come in through Hwy 198: Have fun sledding, skiing, or snowshoeing at the Wolverton Snowplay Area. You can rent snowplay gear at Wuksachi Village, but it’s closed until March 15, 2024. Plan for a round trip of at least 2-3 hours driving to get to the Giant Forest, and it might take longer in winter. In the Giant Forest, experience the giant sequoias on the Big Trees Trail. Always bring tire chains, wear warm layers, and pack emergency water and food. If the highway between the parks is open, expect a drive of at least 2-3 hours between entrance stations on the Generals Highway, or it might take longer depending on winter conditions.

    If you come in through Hwy 180: Enjoy sledding, skiing, or snowshoeing at Big Stump or Columbine near Grant Grove Village. Visit the Visitor Center and get your ticket at the Grant Grove Village Market. Remember to bring tire chains, wear warm layers, and pack emergency water and food. If the highway between the parks is open, allow at least 2-3 hours for the drive between entrance stations on the Generals Highway, or it might take longer depending on winter conditions.
