Fresno’s favorite holiday tradition for more than 100 years
Every December, about 140 homes along North Van Ness Boulevard in Old Fig Garden light up nearly two miles with millions of lights. It’s one of the oldest holiday light displays in the country.
The tradition began in 1920, when a mother decorated a tree in memory of her 14-year-old son. A historical marker at 4962 N Van Ness Blvd tells the story.
